Le Cabinet des Leurres documents the solo exhibition of the artist Sabine Pigalle at the Musée Condé of the Château de Chantilly which runs from March 4 to May 21, 2023. It includes a presentation by Mathieu Deldicque and texts by Sabine Pigalle. It was produced with the support of the Compagnie des Beaux-Arts.
Born in France in 1963, Sabine Pigalle lives and works in Paris. The artist favors the photographic medium and is part of the movement of a new generation that navigates the murky borders of reality and fiction.
The main axes of her work question myths, heritage, the notion of time, collective memory, and focus around the portrait treated as a representation of shifted archetypes. Related to the Post-photography movement, she produces transversal works that hybridize paintings and photographs, ancient art and contemporary art, figuration and abstraction.
A graduate of the Ecole des Chartes and a doctor of art history, Mathieu Deldicque is a curator and historian of French art. He has been director of the Musée Condé at the Château de Chantilly since 2022.
