The catalog Carlos Araya Vargas. Santiago-Alep, no man's Land documents the artist's solo exhibition, which runs from November 21, 2023 to January 19, 2024 at the NEF in the Roublot hall in Fontenay-sous-bois. The catalog includes a text by Gérald Stehr and an interview by Paola Martinez Infante.

Born in France in 1966, Carlos Araya Vargas lives and works in Paris. After graduating from Chile's National School of Fine Arts, the artist went on to study French civilization at the Sorbonne. Since 1990, Carlos Araya has divided his time between Paris and Santiago. His work has since been shown in numerous exhibitions in France, Chile and other European countries. He has exhibited at the Galerie Detais and the Galerie Suzanne Tarasieve, the Taylor Foundation, the Claudio Arrau León Museum in Chillán (Chile), the Fine Arts Museum in Santiago (Chile), the Maison du Chili in Paris and the Pinacoteca in Concepción (Chile). In 1997, the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Santiago de Chile held a solo exhibition of his work. His work has also been the subject of several publications. Founding member in France of Association Groupe 144, "Les peintres ont droit de cité". Founding member of the "Cooperativa de Artistas SXC" group, Santiago, Chile. Carlos Araya's paintings are included in numerous collections worldwide.

Paola Martinez Infante is a freelance journalist, press correspondent for Spanish-language media and teacher. A specialist in Latin America, she is the Paris correspondent for the independent radio station Radio Biobio. In Chile, she has worked as a highly eclectic journalist for leading audiovisual programs such as Gato por Liebre, Plan Z and El Factor Humano. She also produces documentaries and works in France for TV5 Monde.

Born in Paris in 1949, Gérald Stehr is a painter and writer, founding member of a group of Parisian artists, and author of several books, screenplays and plays for children. He is best known today for his adaptations of correspondence (performed at the Grignan correspondence festival) and his books for children.
