Jean-Louis Sauvat is the catalog published for the artist's solo exhibition from June 24 to October 9, 2022 at the Hôtel du départment in Alençon and at the François Mitterand media library in Argentan (FR) as part of "Un été ornais contemporain" organized by the Fonds départemental d'art contemporain de l'Orne under the direction of Pierrick Bigot. It includes prefaces by Christophe de Balorre and Sylvie Brunel, as well as texts by Jean-Louis Sauvat, Bartabas, Marie-Claude Brossollet, Jean-Louis Gouraud and Laurent Coulon.

Jean-Louis Sauvat is a French sculptor and painter born in 1947. Trained at the Beaux Arts de Paris, the artist became in 1968 the youngest professor of plastic arts at the Ecole des Beaux Arts de Paris at the age of 21. Since 1975, he teaches at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Appliqués et des Métiers d'art de Paris. The artist is also a rider, trainer and lover of horses that he works with daily. They are his greatest source of inspiration, in numerous works as in his works, such as the monumental murals of the Grandes Ecuries de Versailles or his realizations for the Academy of the equestrian spectacle created by Bartabas.

Clément Marty, better known by his stage name Bartabas, was born on June 2, 1957 in Boulogne-Billancourt. He is a French horseman, stage director, scenographer and producer. He founded the Zingaro Equestrian Theatre in 1984 and created the Versailles Equestrian Academy in 2003. An exceptional horseman and pioneer of a new form of expression combining equestrian art, music, dance and comedy, Bartabas has invented and directed a new form of live performance: equestrian theater.

Marie-Claude Brossollet, who passed away in 2019, was the last family manager of Belin Editions. A publisher by trade and by passion, she developed the major reference collections "Histoire de France" and "Mondes Anciens", which contributed to the expansion of Belin's image beyond the world of educational publishing, collections that she left her mark with renowned collection directors. As an amateur rider, she initiated the creation of a department offering treatises and manuals on horseback riding, quickly becoming the leading publisher in the field.

Born in Paris in 1943, Jean-Louis Gouraud is a journalist for the Figaro and the weekly Jeune Afrique. The author considers himself "as a representative of the quadrupeds in the world of bipeds; as the advocate of horses in a universe ruled by men; as a friend of the cavaliere, a hippomaniac, a hippanthrope". He is the author of many books on horses and equestrian art, and he has directed several collections dedicated to the horse: the collection "Caracole" at Favre Editions, the collection "Cheval-Chevaux" at Rocher Editions, and the collection "Arts équestres" at Actes Sud. One of his novels even inspired Bartabas to make the film Chamane. In 2012, he lobbied for the creation of a Monument to the Unknown Horse (sculpture by Jean-Louis Sauvat), a project officially included in the program for the 2012 celebration of the Bicentennial of the Borodino Battlefield. In 2013, he received the Prix Renaudot du livre de poche for Le Pérégrin émerveillé.
