July Ancel. Sarabande is the first monograph on the French artist. It includes texts by Richard Leydier, Olivier Kaeppelin, Philippe Staib and July Ancel.

Born in Nice in 1983, July Ancel lives and works in Paris. She graduated from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux Arts de Paris in 2010. The following year, she was awarded the Prix Antoine Marin in Arcueil and a research grant at Casa de Velázquez in Madrid. Since then, her work has been exhibited extensively in France and abroad, most notably in China at Galerie Philippe Staib.

Olivier Kaeppelin is a French curator, art critic and writer. From the 1990s to the end of the 2010s, he held a number of senior positions at France Culture, Radio France, the French Ministry of Culture and Communication, where he was Director of Visual Arts from 2004 to 2010, the Palais de Tokyo and the Fondation Maeght, where he was Director from 2011 to the end of 2017. He has also been a research fellow at the École Pratique des Hautes Études, and has taught at the Université Paris-VIII in the Literature department, at the Université Panthéon-Sorbonne in the Art History department, and at the École des Beaux-Arts in Nantes.

Born in 1972, Richard Leydier is an exhibition curator, art critic and editor-in-chief of the magazine Art Press. In this capacity, he has written a large number of monographs devoted to artists as diverse as David Altmejd, Bernhard Martin, Georg Baselitz, Vanessa Beecroft and Ernesto Neto. He is the author of several books on Ronan Barrot, Marc Desgrandchamps, Jean Messagier, Jonathan Meesse and François Rouan, among others.
