Le Mois Molière 1996–2026 is published to mark the thirtieth anniversary of the founding of Le Mois Molière. In this volume, François de Mazières, Mayor of Versailles and founder of this festival—unique in France—recounts its remarkable human and artistic adventure through both words and photographs. Written in the manner of a logbook, the book traces each edition of the festival, capturing its evolution year by year with a vivid and personal narrative.

A graduate of the Institut d'Études Politiques de Paris (Sciences Po) and a former student of the École nationale d'administration (ENA), François de Mazières began his career in the French prefectural administration, serving in Moulins and Besançon. In 1995, he was appointed to the Inspection Générale des Finances. From 1995 to 2008, he served as Deputy Mayor of Versailles with responsibility for cultural affairs. In 1996, with the support of 200 volunteers, he founded Le Mois Molière. He has directed the festival ever since and continues to oversee its theatrical programme. In 2000, he was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Fondation du patrimoine, a public-interest foundation dedicated to the preservation of local heritage. In 2002, he became Cultural and Communications Adviser to Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin. In 2006, he published Versailles en scène: L'aventure du Mois Molière, a work reflecting on the origins and creation of the festival. Since 2008, François de Mazières has served as Mayor of Versailles.
