Saint-Louis au coin de la rue is the sixth volume in the collection of the Illustrated Historical Dictionaries of the Streets of Versailles, published in collaboration with the Municipal Archives of the City of Versailles. Prefaced by François de Mazières, Mayor of Versailles, the work includes texts and entries by Julien Le Magueresse, Coralie Lewin, Louise-Marie Lioux, Camille Pin, Laetitia Soulier and Johanne Henocq. It documents the exhibition at the Musée Lambinet in Versailles: “If Saint-Louis Could Tell Its Story: Great and Small Tales of a Neighbourhood”, held from 1 April to 12 July 2026.
Through historic maps and remarkable documents, the exhibition traces the origins of the neighbourhood and its development, from the earliest dwellings to the urbanisation of the Parc-aux-Cerfs, which completed the expansion of Versailles following the creation of the Notre-Dame district. It also highlights major landmarks such as Saint-Louis Cathedral, whose establishment as a parish in 1730 marks the official foundation of the neighbourhood, the Carrés Saint-Louis and the Jeu de Paume Hall.
Director of the Municipal Archives of the City of Versailles since 2023, Julien Le Magueresse began his career at the archives of the French National Assembly before heading the Public Services Department at the Departmental Archives of Hauts-de-Seine. In this capacity, he curated numerous exhibitions, including “Hauts-de-Seine in the Great War”, “Twists and Turns”, and “From Plans to Remains: Hauts-de-Seine and the World’s Fairs”. He also conceived the exhibitions “The History of Sport in Versailles: A Living Memory in Motion” and “Versailles from Above” at the Musée Lambinet in Versailles.
